But I don’t think I’d ever spend money on one. Cool, would be badass to cruise in, but they’re pretty damn pricey for something that’s been around for ten years. I wonder when they’ll do a platform upgrade.

My feelings exactly.

I wonder about used values when they do a platform upgrade...

Paging Mergio Sarchionne, Mergio Sarchionne to the red phone please!
But in all honesty, a platform upgrade? It’s still got bits of this underneath
Who are we kidding? They are going to put some 1,5k hp engine into it, do a press release Italian abduction style (here’s a toe of the new car, now you see an ear...) and call it a day.

The thought of a challenger on a smaller, lighter platform sends shivers down my spine. I realize I’m one of the rare folk that loves the current styling, over both the Mustang and Camero.
Oh and throw in an optional always-on rear views camera, please.

I think it looks cool (the new Mustang makes me sad), but it’s due for an upgrade eventually, right?

Odds are good Dodge will go under before they upgrade the platform.

Past due. I’d love to see a partnership with another company. Imagine suspension and chassis tuning by Lotus....

Sergio? Is that you?

Something that looked like that but was smaller and agile? I’d be excited.

Weren’t they supposed to use the giulia/ghibli platform?

As a lover of small cars, whenever I drive past a Challenger I find myself wishing that they could keep that design but in a more compact car.

They really are cool looking cars. Too big for my tastes but cool.
There have been rumors of using both the Giulia platform and a Maserati platform.

They already split off “Ram” trucks so what do they actually need Dodge for?

I mean, they’re killing off the Grand Caravan, so that leaves the Charger, the Challenger, and the Durango and Journey (which could become Ram vehicles). So there’s not much keeping it around.

I’m right there with you. My understanding is that there were originally plans to retire the platform and revive the Barracuda nameplate under Plymouth as a class competitor to the Mustang and Camaro, but then the bankruptcy happened.
The Challenger has actually sold pretty well since the refresh in 2015, so they keep pushing back the timeline for replacement. My guess is that we probably won’t see a Challenger/Charger replacement (based on the Giorgio platform underpinning the Guilia and Stelvio) until 2022-ish.

The replacement will probably be based on the Giorgio platform that underpins the Giulia and Stelvio, but I doubt we’ll see it until 2022-ish.
